About
The establishment of the International MA Program in Child Development has been primarily anchored on the goal to improve the lives of the children that are at risk in different parts of the world. This has been designed to serve as a preparation for the succeeding generation of global experts who will be focusing on the pressing questions about child development’s nature and how this will apply to the lives not only of the children but also their families, specifically those that live in the developing countries.
Through this exceptional program, professionals will be better equipped with the right set of skills and knowledge that they will need once they return to their home countries, allowing them to influence and affect the well being of the children and their respective families.
Curriculum
International MA Program in Child Development is composed of 36 credits, including core child development courses, concentration specific courses as well as workshops that aim to enhance the knowledge of the students on child development coming from an international overview.
For exceptional students, they may want to make the most out of the courses on Hebrew and/or Arabic offered by the International School although this is not really a requirement and is not also a part of the tuition. There are intensive courses on language offered on the months of July and August and the entire duration of the semester.
Those who are interested to become a part of the program are being encouraged to submit their applications at the International School. Basically, they will need to present a copy of their transcript and diploma and must also have an accredited bachelor of arts in relevant academic disciplines that are related to social services for the children, including occupational therapy, social work, physical therapy, speech and language pathology, early childhood education, nursing, law and psychology. A minimum GPA of 3.0, 80% or equivalent is also a must.
There are other requirements that should also be presented, such as TOEFL scores, resume or CV, 400-600 word State of Purpose, 400-600 word Personal History Statement, copy of a valid passport and six photos, passport sized and medical forms.
A tuition fee of $10,320 is required for the international students in order to be a part of the full program. As for the Israeli students, 26,000 NIS is needed. The program also has a non-refundable application fee of $100 but a waiver for the fee is given to applicants that come from the developing countries. There are also dormitories available at a monthly payment of $450.
