About Us
Graduate summer semester is specially designed to meet the needs of all qualified graduate students from abroad who desire to spend a summer in Israel’s top universities and participated in various graduate level courses included in Israel and Middle East Studies. This summer program is open to students who are enrolled in a master’s degree, recent college graduates or doctoral candidates who haven’t yet commenced a graduate study’s program.
Curriculum
The learning goals for every student may differ depending to their aptitudes and aspirations. Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies program provides a wide range of courses that cover multiple disciplines, from political science to religious studies. Every student must be able to concentrate upon such areas that meet her or his particular interests. Students should also develop a training, which touches upon some disciplines in relation to the field. Students should also be able to frame several questions, evaluate conclusions with use of one or more academic approaches or disciplines, and investigate problems.
Students should also be able to access the culture and language of the Middle East directly to get a much more objective understanding of the issues concerning to the different field of Islamic Studies and Middle Eastern Studies. With this program, students will also be familiar with the scholarly conventions as well as debates about the Islamic and Middle East Studies.
To achieve such skills, students should learn the Middle East’s general history from the beginning of Islam to contemporary period with knowledge of their certain period, area, of interest. They should also know the religious practices and principle tenets of Shi’I Islam and Sunni. The history of concepts in the Middle East as well as its relation to some contemporary events will be also tackled.
Students who are eligible and qualified for the admission of the program should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. The admission may also use the letters of recommendation and transcripts as the basis for accepting qualified candidates. A B or 2.3 grade-point average is also required for students.
Students who did not study at a certain educational institution where English is their language of instruction will be required to submit TOEFL scores. The required minimum score for TOEFL is 230 on computer-based, 573 on paper-based, and 89 on internet-based.
