About Us
M.A. Program in Jewish Studies is designed for those students who want to study Jewish culture as well as sources from an interdisciplinary perspective. M.A Program in Jewish Studies covers Jewish history and culture from the beginnings to today’s times. The program is divided into 2 major periods, which are from Medieval to modern times and from ancient to early medieval times. The courses are offered in history, textual studies, culture, philosophy, and include some study tours in Jerusalem. Language instruction is provided in Akkadian, Literary and Colloquial Arabic, Modern Hebrew, and Biblical Hebrew.
Students will spend a total of two academic years to complete the M.A. Program in Jewish Studies. This program also offers an advanced track, which is ideal for outstanding students with an excellent command of Modern Hebrew particularly level Dalet or above, and have background in the Jewish studies. With this, they will be able to complete the program in just three semesters only.
Curriculum
M.A. Program in Jewish Studies consists of forty credits over 4 consecutive semesters, which include tutorials and elective courses. Students are also required to specialize in a period of study, yet take courses in another period. During the first year of this program, students are expected to take the elective and required courses. The second year of this program is equivalent to 20 credits will focus mainly to specialized study, which concentrates on the field of interest of the student. The courses included are advanced and interdisciplinary courses. Seminars will be also offered.
Students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree from one of the accredited institution of higher education are eligible to take this program. The admission is a bit competitive and based on the letters and transcripts of recommendation. Students should complete the admission requirements to take the program.
