The Summer Research Program in Biological and Neuro Sciences Sessions is a newly established course studies for students in Israel. It is an eight-week study program that allows students to participate in classroom classes and activities that will give them first hand experienced in biological and neuro sciences research. The Summer Research Program in Biological and Neuro Sciences sessions is designed to allow first generation college students, students from minority groups that are underrepresented and financially disadvantaged students in Israel to attend a graduate school and pursue a profession in biological and neuro sciences related fields. This eight-week summer program provides students in Israel with access to world-class research facilities and conduct supervised research using state-of-the art research tools and equipment.
There is a diverse area of research that students can participate in including bioengineering, biochemistry & biophysics, cell biology, cancer biology, chemical biology, developmental biology, computational & systems biology, genomics, genetics, human genetics, immunology, infectious diseases, molecular biology, microbiology, human disease & molecular medicine, cognitive sciences, neurobiology, structural biology, plant biology, virology, systems biology, molecular & and cellular neuroscience and systems neuroscience. Also, students will participate in scientific paper discussions that will expose them to scientific writing and oral presentations on their own research.
Students are expected to participate in a variety of lab meetings, work fulltime in the laboratories, academic research and seminars. The academic seminars cover the topics of how to apply to graduate schools and give oral presentations. The seminars are designed to allow students to improve their presentation skills and become more competitive applicants. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in research seminars, departmental retreats and research symposia and meet faculty members.
Students studying a degree related to biological and neurosciences as well as students who have an undergraduate degree in M.Sc. are encouraged to enroll. The program also accepts students with high level English language proficiency and students who have interest in undertaking post graduate studies on Ph. D. and M. Sc.
The Summer Research Program in Biological and Neuro Sciences Sessions has an application fee of $60 and a program participation fee of $1,000. The fee covers the health insurance of students, the cost of trip to North Israel and organized activities. There are optional Hebrew and Arabic classes offered at an additional cost. The institution also offers an optional on campus housing at $1,200 until the entire duration of the summer session.
